President Trump’s 2nd attempt at the travel ban is in the federal court process. As it’s moving through the court system, Attorney Gen. Jeff Sessions decided himself the Judge reviewing the order should be fired. Keep in mind, this was the Hawaii judge responsible for shooting down Trump’s first travel ban order.
From Progress Tribune:
Speaking to alt-right Radio host Mark Levin, Sessions said…“I really am amazed that a judge sitting on an island in the Pacific can issue an order that stops the president of the United States from what appears to be clearly his statutory and constitutional power.”
Sessions’ comment, along with his description of Hawaii as an “island in the Pacific”, caused a firestorm on social media today.
Matthew Miller, a former Department of Justice spokesperson under Obama, called Session’s words “an extraordinary attack on a federal judge’s right to do his job by a sitting AG.”
“Completely inappropriate,” Miller
Chelsea Clinton added…“Someone please tell Sessions that Hawaii is a state…an American in Hawaii is as American as one from Alabama. Or Indiana.” Part of her statement was apparently in reference to Trump’s earlier charges against Judge Gonzalo Curiel, an Indiana born judge who reviewed a couple of California lawsuits filed against Trump University.
What more should we expect from Trump’s little helpers? It’s disgraceful he and his cronies hold everybody but themselves to certain standards. Imagine if Obama had single handily fired a judge…
