President Trump had lunch with 13 Republican Senators today to discuss the GOP healthcare plan and their strategy to pass the bill, but of course Trump had to open their discussion glorifying himself.
President Donald Trump opened a lunch meeting with an on-camera speech glorifying himself once again.
We get it, Mr. President… You’re the best bull-sh**ter America has ever seen.
GOP Sens. Lamar Alexander, John Barrasso, Susan Collins, Tom Cotton, Ted Cruz, Joni Ernst, Cory Gardner, Orrin Hatch, Mike Lee, Lisa Murkowski, Rob Portman, John Thune, and Pat Toomey were all at the lunch, with Murkowski sitting on Trump’s right and Ernst on Trump’s left.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is working with lawmakers behind closed doors to amend the legislation that passed in the House, and reportedly aiming to vote on the bill in the upper chamber before the July 4 recess.
While Senate leaders like Majority Whip John Cornyn have pressed their colleagues to pass healthcare by the July deadline, Sens. Lindsey Graham and Richard Burr have questioned if healthcare can be done by the end of the year.
McConnell said in late May that Republicans did enough votes for the upper chamber’s healthcare legislation at that time. “I don’t know how we get to 50 [votes] at the moment,” McConnell said at the time, referring to the healthcare bill.
While Republicans have majority power in the Senate with 52 seats, just two GOP defections would likely lead to a deciding, tie-breaking vote by Vice President Pence.
The President remains certain everything is just fine, and that he and his administration continue to soar high above all his predecessors.
“I think probably seldom has any president and administration done more or had any more success so early on.” Trump said.
