Fox News personality Bill O’Reilly shocked so very few, by once again revealing his racist attitude towards African-American women.
Reilly said he didn’t hear a word California lawmaker Maxine Waters said because “I was looking at the James Brown wig.”
The Fox network then played the infamous clip of Eric Bolling telling the congresswoman to “step away from the crack pipe.”
The disrespect shown to Maxine Waters, a mature and sophisticated congresswoman whose only sin has been to help underprivileged black women, is not only steeped in racism, but is downright insulting to all women.
It’s especially insulting coming from Bill O’Reilly of all people. Waters reminded us in a statement on the Chris Hayes Show, “[He] has no credibility…He’s been sued by women and has had to pay millions of dollars out in fines for harassment.”
Maxine Waters went on to thank Hillary Clinton who publicly defended Waters against the racially motivated attack.
Waters went on to speak to all women warning them, “Don’t allow these right-wing talking heads, these dishonorable people, to intimidate or scare you.”
Later, liberal comedian Bill Maher got some flack for criticizing Hillary Clinton’s statement, suggesting in so many words, a self-serving white woman shouldn’t be the one leading this battle.
However, Hillary absolutely did the right thing by standing up for the maligned congresswoman. Opposing racism is all the more effective when criticism comes from a powerful white woman condemning the remarks of a powerful white man.
This shows that it’s not about politics or picking sides. It’s about standing up for what’s right.
Clinton reminded America that white liberals and white conservatives alike should all stand up against racial injustice. We should all be quick to shame racist attitudes in any form, even if it’s meant to be humorous.
Hillary’s comments served as a fine example for all people, of all ethnicities and social backgrounds. Making negative racial comments is not appropriate in this day and age and especially not on network television!
